Helping Food Banks Feed More

A friend pointed me to this (and blatantly plagiarizing), ...appalling really in a country like ours:

The 2011 Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has left the station and is heading on its 13th annual cross-Canada tour to raise money, food and awareness for community food banks at a time when more and more Canadians are accessing them for basic needs.

According to a recent report from Food Banks Canada, 851,014 people were assisted by Food Banks in Canada in March 2011, up 26% from 2008.

"Requests for help came, in every province and territory, from a wide range of Canadians: people with jobs, on social assistance, and on pensions; single people and families with children; renters, homeowners, and the homeless; those whose families have lived here for generations, and new Canadians."*

About uld’veisms (Part I)

...uld'veisms are a trap, they are part of the chaotic nature of our universe, and an example of what's gone is gone. Of course we could explore the quantum nature of the universe and agree that there are multiple parallel existances of ourselves in simultaneous time. 'tis just that we would not be able to experience them?

I should've put my fear of rejection away and asked you out.
We could've married later on.
We would've had beautiful children.

L'univers est chaotique, si le temps pouvait ĂȘtre inversĂ© poseriez-vous?

Will Facebook follow?

I have no idea if Facebook will follow, therefore this test.

Persevering, Finding purpose as we approach Death

I have seen a change of behaviour in friends and family relating to religion.
Most of my close ones know I am not religious. The word atheist is an oxymoron, that is not what I claim to be. Secular humanism is probably closer to reality, although in my opinion there is no reality. Everything is just a shadow of something else that we are either not allowed to know or just plain stupid and we cannot see it.
Although we look older as we age, we do not always feel older. As we age, we inevitably get closer to death, and it is natural to question the point of life. Why live when we inevitably die? Of course, the Christian has an answer to this. We believe that when we die we will be with God and live on in a new resurrection body. Because we have repented (said sorry to God) of our sins - our moral and attitude mistakes - and because we have lived to please God, we can have faith that we will experience a reward for being obedient. For example, Matthew 25:23 says, “...you have been faithful...come and share your Master’s happiness”.
Before "Criminal Minds (TV program)" gained some popularity, the concept of Behavioural Analysis -- in my case goes back to "Artificial Intelligence", B.F. Skinner, around the early 80's.

Yet, if I look at the changes in my loved ones, I see it more and more -- that is, an attempt to get closer to G*d. This starts confirming findings from Skinner, Beer, Clark and many more.
There is absolutely no criticism, you have to do what you think you have to do. I just do not agree with it.

Path Is Sought for States to Escape Debt Burdens
By MARY WILLIAMS WALSH
Policy makers are working to find a way to let states declare bankruptcy and get out from under debts including the pensions they promised public workers.

...and I think "you have already taken our taxes to bail out you-know-who-and-their-friends", why would "policy makers" take it a step further to go bankrupt to avoid paying pensions and other debts?, it is not even that states will suffer what a real citizen has to when declaring bankruptcy, yet why not everybody declare bankruptcy? It seems the logical thing to do: no debts, no credit rating and please do print REAL money because we will need it.

Well, that was enough for the day, I just can't deal with the FDA and GOP spins.
Most people in power really think that the peasants are a bunch of idiots.

Turbulent Times

The best this morning was the homily on TV.
Giovanni, on their 25th wedding anniversary, takes his wife to Italy.
Priest praises Giovanni and asks him what he'll do for his 50th anniversary.
Giovanni replies, "I'll pick her up from Italy".

...when the TV started blurting out propaganda about how Capitalism saved the miners in Chile and their president, when asked about his request for each miner to bring a rock, he replied, "it's a memento for the Queen of England and Cameron", ...pure PR, more BS, etc., I turned it (the TV) off.
